The goal of the Southwest Louisiana Professional Development Institute is to provide ongoing education, resources, and skill-building opportunities for professionals to effectively identify and respond to issues such as domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking, promoting stronger collaboration and support for victims across Southwest Louisiana and beyond.
The SWLA Professional Development Institute is a one-day training designed for professionals, including Law Enforcement, District Attorney’s Offices, Professional Counselors, Social Services, Educators, and beyond, which will focus on the critical intersection between domestic violence and human trafficking and address risk factors of dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking, to strengthen collaborative efforts to support victims and prevent exploitation.

Mark your calendars for October 29, 2026, from 5:30 PM– 8:00 PM for the 12th Annual Tasting on the Terrace, which will be held at the L’Auberge Casino Resort Event Terrace.
L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles presents Tasting on the Terrace: An Evening in Support of the Children’s Advocacy Center. This premier wine tasting event will take place on the lush Event Center Terrace. Guests will sample high end & unique wines all while also enjoying delicious hors d’oeuvres.
Tasting on the Terrace: An Evening in Support of the Children’s Advocacy Center, is a wine tasting event that will benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center, a Division of Family & Youth. The Children’s Advocacy Center is a child-friendly facility designed to coordinate services for children who have been reported as sexually or severely physically abused. Designed and managed to reduce the effects of trauma, the Center’s comfortable environment and well-trained staff work together with area prosecutors, law enforcement agents, child protection investigators, social service workers, therapists, victims’ advocates, and medical professionals to investigate child abuse allegations and reduce the number of investigative interviews typically experienced by our young victims.
